I’m a husband and a father of 3, working as a Captain and Instructor at Scandinavia’s largest airline – Scandinavian Airlines System – SAS.
I started as a Naval officer in Royal Swedish Navy many years ago. After graduation and further training at different Navy ships, I applied and was selected for Helicopter Pilot Training. After a couple of years I wanted to fly aero planes and finished my ATPL in 1990. Scandinavian Airlines System hired me a couple of weeks later and I started as a Flight Officer in September the same year. During the years I’ve been flying both long and short haul operations on various aircraft types, including MD 81/82/83/87, DC9-80, Boeing 767, Airbus 330, Airbus 340 and currently Commander at A319/320/321.
My passion, except flying, is teaching and instructing. I’ve been an instructor since 2002, currently developing and teaching Crew Resource Management (CRM). CRM concerns such different topics as Decision Making, Situation Awareness and Communication. Aero planes are great, but it’s the human inside the system, coping with different situations and goals, that thrills me!
I also run my own company – UTurn – that serves as a platform for company education, speeches and workshops within the field of Human Factors, Error Management and how the aviation industry copes to minimize the consequences. Use my e-mail to inquire about a speech at your next event.
In my spare time I like to hang out with my family and friends, work out or drive my Austin Healey 3000 MkIII. My activities on sascaptain.com, Twitter and Instagram have of course also my focus. The photography and social media skills that comes with it is just a bonus! Fly safe!
